Adopt-A-Family

Our families come in all shapes and sizes. From a family of 1 who are typically seniors to families of 2 – 22. Adults + Kiddos You may review applications either online or at our office. Select your family/families by noting the Application Number for each of the families you wish to adopt. We will require this number in order to release your family/families to you. When we release a family to you, your will receive their contact information and related details.

Contact Your Family

Once you have received the contact information on your family/families you must contact them within 24/48 hours. Dial *67 then the family’s telephone number. Begin the relationship process by asking to speak to the Head of Household as it appears on their application and indentify yourself as their CB Adopt-A-Family Volunteer, only providing your First Name. Do not give them your Last Name of personal contact numbers. Inquire what their "Holiday Needs Might Be?" Have paper and pencil ready to take down gift ideas and sizes. (Some may ask for the kitchen sink - you are only obligated to provide them what is within YOUR ability to give. If you find that your experience with the family is not a positive one, please contact us immediately and we will release the family and re-assign another family to you.) Also establish a date and time that you will be delivering the gifts to your family. We ask that you deliver your gifts on or before December 23rd.

Do not give your family your personal information, telephone number(s)
If they must get in touch with you they must do so by
calling the CB Holiday Office 512.453.3950 we will be the go between.

Guidelines to Giving:

"Your giving is a personal decision based on your budget and your ability to donate."
We ask that you meet at a minimum the following two giving options:
provide the family with the means for a meal and gifts for the children.

MEALS - We have found that gift cards from HEB, Randall’s, Super Wal-Mart or Super Target are the best option. A gift card offers a sense of dignity, allowing them to purchase their own food, moreover, the Austin community has become very rich in cultures, diverse lifestyles, specials diets, and personal taste. The $$value of the gift card will depend on the size of your family.
